School Governor

Park and Parkwall Primary Schools Federation
Volunteer role
Contract Type:
Part Time
Governor meetings are about once per month on Tuesdays 5.30pm-7.30pm with some other visits to school at mutually convenient times
Details of Role:

The Governing Board of Park & Parkwall Primary Schools Federation are recruiting for additional School Governors and would love to attract the skills and experience of people from our local community.  We are a Federation of two schools: Park Primary School on Hollow Road, Kingswood and Parkwall Primary School on Earlstone Crescent, Cadbury Heath.

Being a School Governor is a voluntary unpaid role, but hugely important in ensuring high standards of achievement for all children in our schools by:

  • Setting the Federation vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding the Executive Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the schools and their pupils
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the schools and making sure their money is well spent.

The full governing board meets every half term, lasting around two hours and are lively & interactive. Most of our current governors work full time and manage to fit in their role around their other commitments. Their motivation is invariably to make a positive contribution to something of fundamental importance – educating our children.

In return they gain skills which they may not otherwise acquire, as well as gaining a wider perspective on a key part of their community.  Most importantly, governors get the satisfaction of knowing they are helping to make a difference in the education of local children.
