Helping Adults Learn to Read

We are looking for someone with a background in teaching literacy who can support our team. Our reading coaches offer one to one coaching to adults who struggle to read. They are supported by coordinators who each support up to ten coaches and reader pairs.

Our Literacy Specialist provides literacy support to the coordinator and reading coaches and assist in running the reading coach meetings. You should have a background in teaching reading/literacy (preferably, but not necessarily, with adults).

• Supporting and advising the coordinator with any literacy related queries.
• Occasional visits to reading pairs to advise on specific situations and challenges that readers and coaches may be facing.
• Attending at least one of each type of coach training to ensure that you know what is expected of Read Easy reading coaches.
• Running workshops for coaches every couple of months with another member of the team.
• Help with setting up starter packs for coaches and resource boxes for readers in conjunction with the coordinators.
