Scams Advice Volunteer


At Age UK Bristol we help make sure that everyone in Bristol can love later life. We do this by supporting and empowering older people, helping other organisations to work together, and championing the interests of older people in the city.


Our organisational objectives are to:

Purpose of Scams Advice volunteer role

To help people avoid being scammed by spotting the warning signs, learning about different scams, knowing what to do if you think something is a scam.


The role involves

Key tasks/activities listed here

  • Delivering talks in person or online to groups about how to identify and avoid being scammed and where to find help if you have been targeted.
  • Undertaking one-to-one information, advice and support online, on the phone or in person about identifying and avoiding being scammed and where to find help if you have been targeted.
  • Complete monitoring paperwork.
  • Updating Client Database where relevant.
  • Adhering to all AgeUK Bristol policies and procedures, such as Confidentiality, Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities.
  • Attending training sessions and volunteer meetings as appropriate.

Qualities and skills required for this role

  • Ability to communicate clearly and engage with clients from all backgrounds, abilities and needs.
  • Empathy, understanding and ability to build a rapport with clients
  • I.T. skills for presentations and admin.
  • Patience!

Hours to be available

To be agreed with the service manager.

A degree of flexibility is required.

Approx half a day per week.
