Young Person’s Earn-a-Bike volunteers are;

Working relationships: You will work as part of a volunteer team, supported by the Community Workshop Coordinator, YPEAB Coordinator and the Volunteer & Member Coordinator.

Specific Duties and responsibilities: 

• Welcoming and building a relationship with young people, working with them in a way that engages their interest in fixing and maintaining their bike
• Delivering the YPEAB session, which involves basic bike maintenance i.e. connecting gear cables and indexing, connecting brake cables and setting up pads, taking wheel out and fitting a tube
• Tidying and general housekeeping in the Community Workshop
• Following Bristol Bike Project policies and procedures when volunteering. These are available in the Volunteer Handbook on the website 

Example YPEAB session:

• 14:30 - have a planning meeting with both coordinators and the other volunteer
• 15:00 - first booked in young person arrives and you have an hour’s session with them working on their bike
• 16:00 - tea break and prepare bike for the next young person
• 16:30 - second booked in young person arrives etc.
• 17:30 - 18:00 - put away the tools you’ve been using, tidy your workstation, close
