JIGSAW Thornbury is a charity that works with all children and young people with additional needs or disabilities, and their families. We provide friendship, support, compassion and fun, along with innovative services that empower the whole family to connect, fit-in and thrive. Everything we do is driven by the passion of our staff and volunteers.
As well as being life changing for the children, young people and families we assist, our services are invaluable for the wider community too. We enhance inclusion by raising awareness to help everyone understand the challenges that those with additional needs or disabilities face – and the unique strengths and qualities they bring.
We are excited to be starting our new befriending scheme project in September which will involve training volunteers to support our parent and carers attending our services. This role is vital for helping some our members to attend groups and activities who would usually struggle coming on their own.
This role would provide great experience to those who are looking to become support workers or those who would like more experience supporting families.
At JIGSAW we can offer a supportive environment with the chance to meet new people, gain confidence, experience and learn new skills.
For further information regarding this role please see the attached role profile. To register your interest please complete our Expression of Interest form which can be found at www.jigsawthornbury.org.uk/volunteer/ and clicking the “Get involved” button.
