As a Support Group Meeting Facilitator, you will:
• welcome people to meetings, provide introductions
• facilitate discussions and create a supportive atmosphere
• help people access appropriate services, support and/or information
• support helpers and identify potential new volunteers.
We are looking for someone that can give approximately 4 hours per month to attend the meetings together with an additional 2-3 hours per month planning time. This role would suit someone who has good administrative and organisational skills. IT skills would also be an advantage, as would the ability to encourage and support people to participate.
You’ll be inducted into the role and informed about the Association. As part of this, you will receive e-learning and/or face-to-face training.
MND is a fatal, rapidly progressive disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles refuse to work. It can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breath. It kills a third of people within a year and more than half within two years of diagnosis, and it has no cure.
The MND Association was founded in 1979. Our mission is to improve care and support for people with MND, their families and carers. We also fund and promote research that leads to new understanding and treatments and brings us closer to a cure for MND.
