Underfall Yard is a working boatyard, as well as a scheduled monument. It is a piece of living history and the Visitor Centre has become a popular local hub. Here the public can explore the story of the boatyard, watch original Victorian machinery in action, and soak in the atmosphere of the Floating Harbour. 

As a volunteer, your role would be to welcome visitors, answer their questions, and support them to make the most of our activities and interactive exhibits. This position is ideal for anyone with an interest in local heritage, tourism, industrial history, education or simply getting to know new people. There are also opportunities to train volunteers to run demonstrations of our historic machinery and give guided tours of the yard. 

Your support will allow us to share the working harbour's story with the community and raise donations for the Underfall Yard Trust, to preserve this historic site for future generations.

Shifts are 3.5 hours long, either 10am-1:30pm or 1:30pm-4pm. Volunteers typically claim one shift per week, however there is flexibility with this. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who are available Tuesday-Sunday.

The venue is wheelchair accessible, with all facilities at ground floor level. Accessible toilets and parking are also available.
