Have you ever considered supporting a charity as a trustee? Would you like to use your expertise and skills to make a positive impact on families in need across Bristol and South Glos? Our trustees undertake a wide range of roles but are mainly responsible for making the charity effective, providing overall direction and maintaining sound management of funds.  They help make decisions and guide the charity to deliver the best possible service for the families we support.

Being a trustee can be hard work, but it is also very rewarding, giving many opportunities for personal development and the chance to give something back to your local community.

What’s in it for you?

You can give back to others using your existing skills and experience and what you’ve learned along the way.  It can help you with your own personal and career development by growing your experience and knowledge of the voluntary sector with training and the support of experienced board members.  Home-Start Bristol is an independent charity but we are affiliated to the national organisation Home-Start UK which means that trustees can also access national training, networking and support.

We encourage you to apply if you are keen to..

–  commit to supporting families with young children in Bristol and South Gloucestershire

– play a role as part of a small team in steering and sustaining the charity

– share your own skills and experience to improve our support to families

– learn along the way

– give your time voluntarily, through agreed expenses will be reimbursed

We are always on the lookout for specialist skills like HR, marketing, safeguarding, social media, IT, finance and fundraising, but if you don’t have these, please do offer your own life experience and skills.

What does it involve?

You will need to commit to six meetings a year.  In between board board meetings you will be responding to emails and reading papers and perhaps attending another one or two other meetings.
