Key Tasks and Responsibilities

We have an opportunity at our Stroud Campus for an individual who has experience or skills to provide Safeguarding support to our leaners. The role will be responsible for supervising and supporting the Education and Wellbeing Mentors at a designated campus, working collaboratively to provide support to learners who are identified as vulnerable or at risk, in order to maintain their attendance and maximise their progress and achievement.

It will involve liaising with a range of internal college services and external agencies to secure appropriate support for learners.

The post holder will act as a source of training, support, advice and expertise to staff on all matters relating to Safeguarding. They will contribute to the running of the SGS Wellbeing Service function, and ensure that the safeguarding & wellbeing support is delivered to the highest standards across the college, consistently and equitably in line with the College Strategic Priorities.

Although this role is term time, the successful candidates will have the opportunity to have paid training through July and August dependent on their availability. 

Key Tasks Include:

  • To line manage a small team of Education & Wellbeing Mentor postholders
  • To act as the first point of contact for all safeguarding referrals, interventions and concerns and triage appropriately.
  • To act as a source of support, advice and expertise to staff on all matters of Safeguarding across the College.
  • To carry out initial assessment and screening of transition documentation for incoming learners and summarise cases.
  • To support the Director of Wellbeing Services with risk assessment of students

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge of supervising staff, and being able to work as part of a team
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of working with young people aged 14+ with emotional, social, mental health and wellbeing issues.
  • Skills or knowledge in the following areas: Mental Health, Social Care, Housing
  • The skills to maintain accurate and detailed computerised records.
