The opportunity
Following a Governance refresh, we seek two individuals who would like to be involved in our cultural journey, helping us build on what we've already achieved. Joining as Non-Executive Directors on our Board and relevant committees (HR & Safeguarding).
Diversity is vital to the success of our organisation, and our Board is no different. It's important to us that our Board represents the diverse backgrounds and communities from which our service users are from, who share our values and are keen to positively contribute their experience as part of our inclusive governing body. Human Resources or Safeguarding will be your field of expertise to effectively challenge and positively impact our strategy and processes in these areas. Understanding charities and community anchor organisations and the regulatory context within which we operate would be helpful. Some training and support can be provided.
You will be keen to influence and drive the strategic direction and success of our deeply rooted and valuable organisation through strong governance. Keeping our service users and the community at the heart of strategic decision-making.
Why Full Circle Docklands?
Full Circle Docklands was founded in 1980 and continues to strive for inclusion and the provision of essential support for the Ashely Ward community. We take a holistic approach to enhancing life opportunities by offering service users a variety of aspirational activities and experiences. We aim to support people to reach their potential, regardless of their background. Our shared vision is to continue to develop new creative arts, media, sports, education and training programmes that can inspire, motivate and engage our community in BS2 and surrounding areas.
Full Circle is well established in St Paul's, predominantly an Ethnic Minority population, working collaboratively with other organisations in the area. We have good relationships with the community, voluntary sector and statutory agencies. In recent years the demographic has changed, African, White, Caribbean, Somali and Eastern European people moving into St Paul's. Our key objective is to promote local cohesion, cultural awareness and inter-generational work among the families living here.
To date, we have supported our community by providing services for youth, elders and families. As we transition to a community anchor organisation, we are expanding our services by developing the sustainability of our organisation. We are also working with the Ethnic Minority networks in Bristol and other organisations in St Paul's to develop our shared vision and objectives that further support our local community.
At Full Circle Docklands, we are committed to building a healthy, vibrant, and inclusive organisation that treats people respectfully and creates opportunities for all.
We have strong community roots and are in the process of developing an ambitious five-year strategy. In the last year, we have undergone significant change, with new board members and interim CEO, in our operating environment, regulatory framework and with the needs and expectations of service users and colleagues.
Our new Governance structure is crucial in enabling us to continue to excel and support our vision of building a community anchor organisation that supports our community to thrive.
