Digital Champion

Age UK South Gloucestershire
Closing Date:
Thursday, 1 August, 2024 - 14:45
Contract Type:
1hr + per week
Contract Details:
South Gloucestershire
Details of Role:

As you know, essential services, such as banking, tax, shopping and health services, are increasingly becoming 'digital first'. Older people who do not have access to the internet or lack the necessary skills are now at increased risk of missing out.

How digital exclusion disproportionately impacts older people:

- Age is the biggest indicator of being digitally excluded, with the risk increasing with age.
- Almost 5 million people over the age of 55 are not online.
- 79% of older people who would like to use the internet more say a lack of skills is the thing holding them back.

Our Digital Support Service is available to support anyone over the age of 50 living in South Gloucestershire who would like to know how to access the internet, use new technology, stay connected or access vital services.

What you will get out of it:

- It's a great way to make a real difference in someone's life

- You'll be giving something to your community

- You get to be part of Age UK South Gloucestershire's friendly volunteer team

- Volunteers tell us they find befriending extremely rewarding

The hours are flexible around your existing commitments - other than the ability to use IT (smart phones, tablets etc) no experience is necessary as we will provide induction, training and ongoing support. All volunteers require a DBS check and references.

We have many people waiting for support across South Gloucestershire, with a particular need in Kingswood.
