Details of Role: 

Peer Supporters wanted. Support young people through fun activities and one to one support.

Anyone 16-25 can take part (exceptions can be made). We will train and support you to gain the skills and experience you need and we have a huge range of roles and settings for you to work in.

1625 Independent People and Learning Partnership West have come together through Bristol Youth Links to offer an opportunity supporting the work they do with young people in Bristol. You could help deliver fun youth work activity sessions, you could give advice to young people in one-off sessions and you can support another young person as a Peer Mentor.

Group sessions:

Activities include; arts and crafts, bike repair, music, football, sport and fitness, gaming, trips away, cooking, independent skills, gardening, survival skills, making pizza ovens and loads more. Sessions are delivered all over Bristol.

Advice sessions:

Support young people with; homelessness, loneliness, emotional problems, sexual health, pregnancy, mental health, boredom, bullying, relationships, education, activities. You can do this by offering advice at 1625ip's drop in or you could support LPW's LOTTY a text and online Peer Support service for young peole. Training and support provided so you feel ready when you begin.

Peer Mentoring:

This is all about offering a positive and boundaried relationship to young people dealing with various issues. Many young people will not have had many positive relationships and so this can have a huge impact on their self esteem and outlook. We support young people who may be homeless, struggling to overcome various other problems or who just need someone to talk to. We will train you and provide you with a phone and make sure you feel ready before you begin. We wont ask you to do anything unless you feel comfortable to do so.

9 of our Peer Supporters have gained employment with 1625 Independent People and Learning Partnership West and we support and encourage anyone looking to apply for jobs with us.
