Bristol and South Gloucestershire
Join learning disability charity Brandon Trust, as a casual (bank) support worker and discover an inspiring role as you enable individuals to live a life of freedom and gain greater independence. You’ll also have an opportunity to develop your experience and pick the shifts that work for you.
Our team of bank support workers work with us on a casual, flexible basis. Some are attracted by the flexible working arrangements to achieve a better work-life balance, whilst for some it’s the desire to gain skills and experience. You’ll have flexibility and access to shifts that fit in with your lifestyle; you could work for a day here and there, for a week or for several months.
About the role
We understand that everyone has different needs and that disabilities affect people in very different ways, so each day is often very different depending on whom you’re supporting. We support people who live in their own homes and in registered care and nursing homes. Your day will include supporting individuals with household tasks, cooking, with personal care or finances. You’ll also support people to access their community including employment, sporting and education opportunities, if that’s what they want to do.
You’ll need to be compassionate, love working with people and able to build professional relationships based on trust, respect and consideration. You’ll need to be flexible around shift and weekend work as rotas are 24/7. It is highly desirable that you have a full driving licence, and are able and willing to use your own vehicle on business (for which mileage expenses will be paid).
