Details of Role:

Money Tree Volunteers

About the role

We ask for at least one day a week, Monday-Friday during office hours, plus supervision meetings, reflective practice and training (we can be flexible about when you can do this). We ask that all volunteers commit to a minimum of six months.

The role:

Young people in Bristol have high levels of rent arrears, with the majority of court action / evictions relating to arrears. As a result many of our service users experience repeat homelessness.

The majority have an assessed need for money management skills. It's a well known fact that young people in social and supported housing are the most likely people to struggle with their money.

Firstly, they generally don't have a lot of it so making ends meet is hard. Secondly, a lot of young people have never had any advice or training about how to budget or where to go for help.

Young people often tell us they need much more support around money and as a volunteer on this project you can help us offer just that.

We will provide all the training you need in 1:1 work, financial capability  and AQA accreditation. We will also provide ongoing support and mentoring including Reflective Practice

Key skills:

  • Interest in and passion for youth work and / or homelessness prevention
  • Enthusiasm
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Able to communicate information in an engaging manner
