1625 Independent People prevents youth homelessness in the South West and has been helping 16-25 year olds reboot their lives through housing and support for over 30 years.

Pay and conditions:
Based at our Head Office in Old Market, you’ll be managed by the Funding and Communication Manager (who reports to the Partnerships Director) and work alongside our Communication Officer.
Your mission is to successfully increase our annual funding from grants, trust funds, corporate relationships and major donors. You’ll actively seek out and cultivate new funding opportunities, cultivate existing funders to a scheduled programme of activities and communication, and support with the identification new ways for us to raise money.
You’ll also account manage a number of current corporate relationships and support the F&C Manager in actively pursuing new relationships and opportunities through an identified pipeline. Working with the F&C Manager to achieve agreed annual targets and KPIs, together you’ll keep things on track, using databases and software (e.g. Etapestry, Grantfinder) to regularly report to the Senior Management Team.
Events and volunteers play a big part in engaging our sponsors, donors and supporters, so we’re looking for someone who has proven experience of working with and managing volunteers, and in organising events and developing them to maximise income and awareness.
It’s not just about raising money, our fundraising activity has to be respectful, compliant with regulations and GDPR, considerate to our work with young people, always promoting them in a positive light. We don’t do sad sensationalist stories or guilt ridden appeals – we want people to engage with us because it makes them feel good about the positive work we do.
You’ve done this job and have at least two years’ experience of writing bids, applications, pitches and proposals for funding. Whilst your previous work may not have been in the youth homelessness sector, you have empathy and understanding of the needs of homeless young people, young people leaving care, and the barriers they face. You like being around and working with young people.
You’ve account managed corporate partnerships, successfully ensuring agreed outcomes and KPIs are on track and that partners feel valued. You may have this experience from a corporate background or similar.
You enjoy taking responsibility for your part in a team effort, improving the team’s fundraising systems and are happy pitching in when needed but are also able to work alone. You will lead on a range of aspects of the job so it’s essential that you have the ability to coordinate and lead with staff and volunteers on projects and processes.
You’re diplomatic and appropriate, can comfortably deal with people from all walks of life and community standing. You’re just as happy talking to the Lord Mayor, a CEO of a large corporate, a volunteer or a young person and you can see a positive opportunity in every situation; then turn that into a tangible benefit to young people and the organisation.
