Project Staff at Alive Activities are looking for Italian speakers or those learning Italian to get involved with our Making Pals community engagement iniative.
The project works with older generations who are living in care but want to connect with others from their community. Many of the residents aren't able to get out and about as much as usual but love to meet new people and chat with those living near to them Recently we visited a group of care home residents in Weston Supermare to ask them which activities they missed doing and how they would like to spend their time. One resident had lived in Italy for many years before moving to the UK and since has missed speaking to others in her first language. She told us that she'd love to hear from anyone wanting to either practice their Italian no matter what level. Likewise we'd love to hear from anyone who shares the language and could spare an hour or so once a month or wherever possible.
This role would be suitable for anyone looking to gain the following:
Experience in a social care setting,
Experience in community engagement,
Anyone looking to improve the lives of older people living in care and help to support their wellbeing
For more information about the project please contact email@example.com or call 0117 35 33950 to speak to someone on the projects team. Ideally we are looking for people who could spend an hour a month visiting a resident in Manor Cottage care home in Weston- Super-Mare. For those who cannot reach Weston but would still like to practice their Italian please do get in touch as we also have opportunities in Bristol.
