The main purpose of this role is to lead a new community engagement project in order to actively engage people affected by cancer from diverse and underrepresented communities across Bristol. This will involve developing relationships and networks to ensure the needs of those communities are understood in order for Penny Brohn to design and implement services that are of specific relevance to them.
This role requires a deep understanding of the diverse range of social, economic and environmental factors which impact on people’s health and wellbeing and the ability to achieve positive outcomes. The post holder will lead the development of projects in partnership with community groups, public and third sector organisations. We are looking for a highly motivated and creative individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to build and develop relationships and connections within a community setting. The ideal candidate will have the skills and confidence to encourage the emergence of new concepts and ideas that can then develop into action.
Penny Brohn UK is the leading UK charity specialising in a whole person approach to helping people live well with the impact of cancer. The way in which we help people is known as the Bristol Whole Life Approach which provides a powerful combination of physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual support that is designed to help anyone affected by cancer, at any stage of the disease. We do this through residential courses, group sessions and 1-2-1 complementary therapies. We work in partnership with many major healthcare providers and our services are underpinned by evidence based research.
