Bristol Ferry Boats is a community benefit society with over 850 members. Our iconic blue and yellow boats provide a daily ferry and leisure service for the people of Bristol, alongside a dedicated education, outreach and volunteering programme. We are a passionate and committed team at pivotal point in our organisational development, and are seeking an Operations and Logistics Supervisor to join us in delivering the exciting operational changes ahead.

Main Purpose and Scope:

To co-ordinate the logistics of the Bristol Community Ferry Boat operations, ensuring the smooth and effective running of services; diary & schedule management with a strong focus on staffing. Working with the General Manager to uphold and develop organisational policy and procedure.

Job Summary:


1. General duties

  • Digital diary management; scheduling ferryboat services and trips.
  • Allocating staff resources according to seasonality and service requirements.
  • Incorporating maintenance schedule into service delivery in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager
  • Ensuring the appropriate levels of staffing and coordinating recruitment and training.
  • Deputizing for the General Manager when required.


  • Uphold BCFB ethos
  • Dealing with telephone & email enquiries and complaints.
  • Taking and managing client bookings & events
  • Work cooperatively with other staff in shared office as well as boat crew.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required .
  • Helping prepare for events.
  • Uphold BCFB policies and procedures.
