Supporting the delivery of our Victims of Crime Advocacy Service (VOCAS) as a volunteer can be varied, engaging and most of all extremely valuable to local people who are at their most vulnerable.
Tasks can vary from researching and promoting our services to local community groups and outside agencies, to accompanying professional advocates on client visits either in their homes, the local community or one of our office bases (Bristol, B&NeS, South Gloucestershire or Somerset).
With ongoing experience through volunteering with VOCAS, you may progress to have the opportunity and conduct one-to-one client work with the full support of our professional team. Alternatively, you can choose to simply promote us in the community, or to solely chaperone us on initial client visits only, or, focus your attentions on becoming a volunteer advocate. We can be flexible and will discuss this with you during an informal interview / chat after once we receive a completed application form.
All of our roles require an enhanced DBS check, 2 references, and a flexible trial period.
Ongoing training is given within the role.
