The Bristol Culture and Creative Industries team works across Bristol to create a city which is dynamic, open, distinctive and enjoyable place to be. As part of this service the team operates five museums and the city’s archives caring for nearly 2 million objects covering a wide range of disciplines including Natural History, Archaeology, World Cultures, Fine Art, Applied Art, Eastern Art and Industrial and Maritime History. It is also host to South West Museum Development programme working with a further 210+ museums across the region. We are an organisation which is creative, challenging, resourceful and vibrant. We seek to make a difference, to put Bristol on the map, and to improve communities’ wellbeing through engagement with their cultural provision and our collections.
The Digital Team maintain and edit the web content for www.bristolmuseums.org.uk, develop and test gallery interactive displays and digital signage across Bristol Museum, M Shed, The Georgian House Museum, Blaise Castle House Museum, The Red Lodge and Bristol Archives. The trainee will support the Digital Team and gain experience in various digital skills related to museum collections, including digitisation (through photography and scanning), database management, and online publishing. Through a training programme, job shadowing and placements within different teams the chosen candidate will receive full training to work on projects across different departments.
