NIGHTSTOP - Volunteer Drivers REQUIRED

We are Caring in Bristol. We are a local charity, with a mission to solve homelessness in our city. From prevention to emergency support, we work together with our community to create innovative projects that support people, of all ages, at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness.

How Nightstop Works:

Nightstop prevents homelessness through community hosting. It helps young people aged 18-25 years who are in immediate housing crisis by providing safe accommodation in the homes of trained and vetted volunteers called ‘hosts’. Guests are hosted on a night by night basis, whilst longer term appropriate accommodation is sought. 

Role Description:

Meet the guest, by arrangement with the Nightstop Worker

Chat with the guest and put them at ease during transit

Drive the guest to the volunteer host’s home

Introduce the guest to the host

Call Nightstop to confirm the guest has arrived at the host’s home safely


Necessary skills, attitudes and knowledge:

A basic understanding of the issues homeless people face

An ability to relate to people on a one to one, nonjudgmental basis

A desire to work with disadvantaged people

A full current driving license, insurance and road worthy vehicle

A willingness to participate in training and supervision


Training, support and supervision:

All volunteer hosts will receive an induction training session and be offered ongoing training. 

You will have staff support available throughout the hosting process and access to our 24

hour on call emergency phone number.

All volunteer hosts will be provided with regular support meetings and supervision.
