Launched in 2012, £B grew quickly to become the largest local currency scheme in the UK. Seven years on our mission is as needed as ever – to create a local economy that is greener, fairer and stronger, and to help other localities around the world to do the same.
We are in the process of transitioning from being a grant-funded project to becoming a self-sustaining social enterprise. We are also committed to applying the learning from our work so far to create a more effective and scalable product. And we have big visions for the future, such as creating a payment platform for the entire region, developing an audit tool for small businesses aligned to the global SDGs and creating new projects to promote a circular economy.
The board is looking to recruit up to four non-executive directors to help us on this ambitious journey. In particular, we need board members with the following skills:
- Marketing and public relations
- Finance and economy
- Technical and digital
If you are looking to give time and energy to help create a better economy and have expertise in any of those areas, please get in touch!
