Want to make a difference?
Join our amazing team of volunteers
We are currently recruiting Helpline Volunteer Support Workers and Assistant Administrator Volunteers
SARSAS provides specialist support for people who have experienced any kind of sexual violence or abuse at any time in their lives. We offer a helpline, one-to-one support sessions, counselling and e-support. Volunteers are at the heart of the work that we do.
We are looking for:
Helpline Volunteer Support Workers to answer calls on the SARSAS helplines providing emotional support and signposting information.
Assistant Administrator Volunteers to support the SARSAS team with a range of essential administrative duties.
We are looking for women from diverse backgrounds and experiences who are passionate about making a difference to the lives of survivors of sexual violence and abuse. We ask that you are empathic, non-judgemental, have good communication and organisational skills, good time-keeping and reliability. SARSAS values diversity and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community.
We are particularly keen to hear from you if you can volunteer on a daytime shift.
Whilst volunteering with us you will learn new skills, gain experience for related roles and courses e.g. counselling, social work, develop an awareness and understanding around sexual violence and abuse as well as meet new friends.
You will be required to attend all of the training days for both of the roles. The training days are as follows:
For both roles you will need to be able to commit to volunteering with SARSAS for at least 6 months.
Helpline Volunteer Support Workers will need to be able to attend one 2-3 hour helpline shift per week and monthly group supervision. Assistant Administrator Volunteers will need to commit to 4 – 6 hours per week usually between 9 am and 5 pm.
We understand that there are many different reasons why you might want to volunteer with SARSAS and explore these with you to best support you on your volunteering journey with us.
We provide you with a thorough induction, training, ongoing support and group supervision. There are also opportunities to participate in away days, planning or conferences and to get involved in other SARSAS services including one-to-one support and campaigning if desired. SARSAS will reimburse out-of-pocket expenses.
