The Life Project supports people with learning disabilities and their families in Bath and surrounding area. We are a Christian charity which aims to create activities and environments where those with learning disabilities can live vibrant and abundant lives - lives that have purpose, security and dignity.

We are now looking for a new Chair of Trustees to join us in our mission!

This is an exciting time to be involved in the governance and development of the Life Project and all trustees play a pivotal role in this. If you have experience of working at board level in an organisation and the passion to drive the Life Project forward, please get in touch.

We are looking for someone who shares our vision and has a strong empathy with our mission to serve people who have learning disabilities. DEtails of our Vision and Mission alongside a full role description is attached and the attributes and experience we are hoping that our new Chair will be able to demonstrate are detailed here:

Experience

  • Successful experience of operating within a board in a charitable, public sector or commercial organisation; successful experience of leading a board in an organisation is desirable
  • demonstrable experience of building and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues to achieve organisational objectives
  • a proven track record of sound judgement and effective decision making
  • a history of impartiality, fairness and the ability to respect confidences
  • a track record of commitment to promoting equality and diversity

Knowledge, skills and understanding:

  • A willingness to lead the organisation
  • tact, diplomacy and powers of persuasion
  • the relevant skills to run effective Board meetings
  • commitment to the organisation and a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort
  • good, independent judgement and strategic vision
  • an ability to work effectively as a member of a team

As a charity built upon Christian principles and ethos it is a requirement of our constitution that Trustees can sign up to our statement of belief.
