Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. Over the past 45 years, Women’s Aid has been at the forefront of shaping and coordinating responses to domestic violence and abuse through practice, research and policy. We empower survivors by keeping their voices at the heart of our work, working with and for women and children by listening to them and responding to their needs.
We are currently looking for a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees to help guide and advise us on our financial position and any concerns. We have a dedicated Head of Finance and Operations so the role of Treasurer is to help oversee the financial work of our charity, not to be involved in the operational running of the central services department. We have a Finance, Resources & Risk subcommittee with delegated authority from the main board. The successful person will need to be able to attend both subcommittee and quarterly board meetings as well as presenting at our AGM, usually held at our summer conference. In total this means a commitment of approx. 12 meetings a year. In addition there may be ad hoc meetings with the Chair/Head of Finance & Operations and Chief Executive (currently acting up). The trustee will be a strategic leader with strong communication skills who is used to working in a consultative manner and has experience in finance and fundraising. Most importantly she will identify strongly with women’s rights and enjoy an ambassadorial role on behalf of the women we represent. This role offers an exciting challenge and an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of women and girls.
