Let’s Grow is a community food growing project occupying 1.3 acres of land on the Springfield Allotments with a fantastic view over the Northern Slopes to Bedminster and the suspension bridge beyond. Our aim is to learn to grow great tasting local fruit and vegetables and enjoy eating them together straight off the plot. A lot of the produce goes to our community kitchen, where our groups learn to cook and enjoy healthy food, to the café in Filwood community centre as well as being sold directly to the community either straight from the allotment (come pick your own!) or from our office.
Our Let's Grow Community Allotment is a unique green haven in the heart of Bristol where people can come to escape the noise of the city and get their hands dirty by working the land. We host school and higher needs groups but there is a lot of growing space to manage which is why we need all the help we can get!
As a volunteer gardener, you will be working alongside our Community Gardener and will be learn/be involved with all aspects of maintaining a community allotment from sowing seeds to harvesting and packaging produce as well as planting, watering, growing, weeding, pruning, site maintenance, etc. We run open volunteer session every Monday from 10.30am to 1.30pm (all abilities welcome) for anyone who is intersted in learning about gardening and growing, or simply fancies getting some fresh air and conecting in the land. Other days and times to volunteer are available upon request.
If you are interested in volunteer with us please contact Fleur at firstname.lastname@example.org or ring our office on 01179639569 or 07940954568 and ask about our Community Allotment gardener volunteer opportunities.
