Details of Role:

Join learning disability charity Brandon Trust as a support worker and discover a genuinely rewarding role with plenty of training, support, a competitive salary, benefits and opportunities to develop your career. You’ll support people with learning disabilities and autism at home and in the community to live life more freely. You don’t necessarily need experience as we provide full training.

You’ll join a highly skilled team and support four men who have learning disabilities who are quite independent and some of whom have mental health issues, epilepsy, and autism. Some are passionate Bristol City fans and attend matches. They also love other sports, enjoy their garden, play skittles and have supported jobs. You’ll support them in all the activities and more besides.

Meet us at a recruitment event:  Proud to Care Jobs Hub, The Galleries, Bristol (6 and 20 March) and The Festival of Care, College Green, 19 March.

Visit our website for more details on these events.

About the role

You’ll support people in all aspects of daily living; from cooking to managing finances. Supporting people with their personal care and medication needs is also key. As a support worker you’ll also support people to do things in their community; from shopping and sport to visiting day centres. Find out more about these aspects of the role through videos on our main website.

If you’re new to health and social care, we provide full training including the nationally recognised Care Certificate. If you’ve experience as a care assistant or care worker in a care home, you’ll discover we provide plenty of on-going training and career progression.

About you

You’ll need good communication skills and a positive, patient approach. Respectful of people’s differences, you can build professional relationships and have a flexible approach. You can work 24/7 shifts including weekends and evenings / nights. A full driving licence is essential for some roles.

We offer a range of benefits.

  • All support workers work flexible shifts to provide a 24/7 service to the people we support.
  • Full-time support workers work 37.5 hours plus one sleep-in a week (pay for these sleep-ins is included in the annual salary figures shown above). We also have some services where sleep-ins are not required. The salary for these roles is £16,953 - £17,774 pa.
  • All Support Workers have the option of working additional hours or sleep-ins in a range of services and are paid £50-£70 extra per sleep-in.

Successful applicants for this role will require an enhanced DBS check.

We’ll respond to your application within 5 working days.

Brandon reserves the right to close this job when sufficient applications have been received.

We are an Equal Opportunities employer and welcome applicants from all sections of the community.
