The right wheelchair, provided in the right way

Wheelchairs are at the heart of our work – but not just any wheelchair. We believe passionately in providing the right wheelchair, in the right way.

That means our wheelchairs are designed to deal with potholed roads, rough terrain and rural environments found in developing countries.

At the same time we promote the importance of making sure that each wheelchair is individually fitted by a trained professional to World Health Organization standards.

And this is just the start.

To really put the wheels in motion, we work with partners and volunteers to make sure disabled people have support and training to be healthy, confident and included in society. They’re not the only ones to benefit: families, communities, even economies feel the positive change.

To achieve this we are embarking on a period of change towards a global model of operation. We are building the capacity of our regional teams so they can drive and deliver the change that is required. We are exploring new funding models. We are building our sustainability. All this will enable Motivation to be in the best shape possible to grow our long term impact for disabled people in developing countries.

Finance, supporting a dynamic charity & innovative design social enterprise

Assisting the Head of Finance to run the UK finance function including all the usual processes to support a £4m turnover charity & £2m trading subsidiary. Management and project accounting, transactions & trial balance for Income and Expenditure, Balance Sheet and Cashflow. A key member of the finance team, leading and recruiting colleagues in the UK.

A qualified MAAT or FMAAT with good general experience in a finance department. Charity background excellent but not essential, learning & taking responsibility over time.

Supporting our overseas offices in Kenya, India, Uganda & Malawi, carrying out monthly & annual cycle of management accounting, assisting with statutory reporting, being supported to add to your considerable experience. Technical accounting, ad hoc analysis, developing finance processes & systems, opportunities to travel may come up to support our overseas offices.

This role would be a great move post qualification or in a developing career path.
