Role Responsibilities

The SFW Inclusion Lead will develop and drive forward a strategy for inclusion and diversity for our 2021 event. This will include:

·       Helping to shape the strategy and identity of SFW to ensure it is inclusive and representative

·       Helping to shape SFW’s language of inclusion

·       Making connections within the breadth of Bristol communities, communicating how people can be involved in SFW 2021 and generating ideas for involvement

·       Supporting hub programming to ensure the event is inclusive and representative

·       Identifying need in the community that would support the transition to a sustainable relationship with fashion

·       Providing ideas and input for our engagement strategy


Role Specifics

The event is currently unfunded and run as not-for-profit and therefore the role is voluntary. We are estimating that the role could be managed in circa 2 hours per week initially, with an increase to circa 3-4 hours per week in the autumn of 2020. The role will run from August 2020 until April 2021. The role can be worked from home, with weekly Zoom calls with the rest of the team. The Inclusion Lead role would be managed by the founder of SFW, with input from the Strategy Lead. We may recruit more than one team member for each position.


Person Specification

We are looking more for confidence in this role, than experience. The Inclusion Lead must:

·       have a good understanding of the challenges faced by Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, particularly in relation to the fashion industry and sustainability

·       be confident in making new relationships and building partnerships within diverse communities

·       be confident in challenging the status quo

·       be happy to attend events or networking opportunities on behalf of SFW to make new contacts

·       be confident in drafting strategies and plans to support SFW’s identity development

·       have a flexible and proactive approach to working

·       be highly motivated to support change in the fashion industry and in consumption patterns, whilst encouraging all parts of the community to take this journey with you
