Details of Role: 

The Belay Foundation places Specialist Support Workers in the homes of families whose children have previously been in local authority care.
A fantastic opportunity is available to support the care of a 7-year-old girl. This role is fixed term until the end of the summer term in July 2021 and term-time only, offering childcare before and after school 3 days per week.
Kara* is 7 and loves being creative with music, art and craft. She also loves being outside and going to the park. Kara was adopted from care and has complex additional needs. Kara’s parents both work and for 3 days per week needs attuned and trained care both before and after school. Kara attends a mainstream primary school and with significant support is doing well. Kara’s parents have developed strategies that calm her behaviour and these need to be implemented consistently for Kara to feel safe.
Kara has received specialist occupational therapy and is currently being assessed for ADHD and FASD (foetal alcohol spectrum disorder). Kara can be impulsive with little self-control, has developmental delays and needs some help with personal care. For this reason we are looking for female candidates.**
You’ll have experience of looking after primary aged children with complex additional needs, be ready to learn about attachment and trauma, and able to hit the ground running to support the parents’ routines and boundaries.
To support you The Belay Foundation will offer training in attachment and trauma, safeguarding, professional boundaries, regulating techniques as well as other any other preparation that will help you in the role. You will also receive ongoing support, peer supervision and clinical supervision.

Role Details

o Monday: 7:45am-8:45am; 3pm-5:30pm
o Tuesday: 7:45am-8:45am; 3pm-5:30pm
o Wednesday: 7:45am-8:45pm; 3pm-5:30pm
o (Parents are both teachers so times and days are fixed and not flexible)
• Fixed term until end of July 2021. Term-time only.
