1625ip are looking for young people that have overcome adversity such as homelessness, substance misuse, poor mental health or have experience of care to join our Ambassador Programme!

What is 1625ip?

1625 Independent People is a charity that works with young people who are homeless, leaving care, or at risk of homelessness in the South West.

What is our Ambassador Programme?

Our Ambassador Programme is a 9-12 month programme for young people aged 16-25 looking to commit to a bursary-supported development opportunity within the Participation Team at 1625 Independent People.

Young people on the programme volunteer 5-8 hours a week to take an active role in representing the voice of young people. You will receive specialist coaching, training and placement opportunities, working towards a desired goal of their choosing. A £700 bursary will be awarded upon completion of the programme to support you in taking your next steps.

What is an Ambassador Lead?

Young people who enrol onto the Ambassador Programme are known as Ambassador Leads and participate at the highest level within 1625ip.

As an Ambassador lead you will:

  • Take an active leadership role on the IPA Board - this is a group of service users who meet monthly to discuss issues important to Young People and ideas for making 1625ip a success
  • Contribute to 1625ip's outreach to really listen to what young people have to say
  • Work closely with our Funding Team to shape future funding priorities and keep the young person voice central
  • Undertake a range of training and development opportunities and use those skills to lead on a project based upon your passions and ambitions
  • Advocate for your peers and influence meaningful change by representing 1625ip at the highest level within a range of spaces and events
  • Connect and collaborate with 1625ip's Board of Trustees - a group responsible for overseeing and informing all that happens within the organisation

Who is it suitable for?

  • This opportunity is suitable for 16-25 year olds with lived experience of homelessness and/or being a looked after child.
  • The role does require a level of time and commitment (approx. 5-8 hours a week for 9-12 months)
  • This is currently a programme with very limited spaces but we will be looking to recruit again later in the year.
