Trustee - Windmill Hill City Farm

Windmill Hill City Farm
n/a Voluntary position
Contract Type:
Meetings are held every 6 weeks on a Monday evening
Contract Details:
Voluntary position
Details of Role:

Windmill Hill City Farm, the award-winning community centre in Bedminster, is looking for trustees.  Could you spare a few hours each month to help to make it an even better place?

Being a trustee means helping to shape the organisation’s future, keeping a watch that it is being run well and sharing your enthusiasm for the farm with others.  You’ll be part of a team of trustees and we’ll make sure you get the training and support you need to be a great trustee, even if you’ve never done it before.

We are looking for new trustees to join our board and would be particularly interested in hearing from you if you have the following skills or experience:

  • Knowledge of health, social care or local government commissioning, or if you have been, or are currently, a practitioner in mental health and/or social care sectors.
  • The experience to provide support and oversight at board level with respect to our safeguarding responsibilities towards children and adults with vulnerabilities.  You may have specific experience in a safeguarding practitioner role or be a current or former educator with an interest in this area.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation to enhance board oversight of existing and proposed policies and procedures including buildings audits.
  • Experience of local authority planning processes, urban development or neighbourhood planning.

However, commitment, enthusiasm and the willingness to get involved are as important as specific skills and experience.

Meetings are on Monday evening once every 6 weeks with expenses covered.  In return for your time you’ll get new skills, a wider social and professional network, and a warm glow from knowing you’re helping your community to thrive.

The principles of equity, diversity and inclusion are important to us. We are keen to hear from racial minority candidates to help us ensure we are welcoming to the different ethnic communities in our diverse city.
