WORKS is a Bristol Learning City collaboration between employers, learning providers and communities to develop a skilled, local workforce.  It has three main aims which are to engage, inspire and employ.young people  WORKS champions and facilitates ways to experience work, mentoring for employability, opportunities to share good practice, networking activities and an online employability portfolio.

The first phase of WORKS will concentrate on the digital and construction industries, due to the national and local skills shortage. A particular focus will also be given to the digital, high-tech and creative media companies setting up in the Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone, as well as construction companies involved in site builds within the area.

WORKS needs employers to offer ways to experience work, consider taking apprentices, provide a space for WORKS activities to take place, and share how to support young people to learn and understand the world of work. WORKS gives education providers connections with more employers, and access to a wider experience of work for young people.  Education providers are encouraged to promote the diverse ways to gain experience of work, and share activities they deliver to help young people develop their skills and understanding.

Young people and communities particularly benefit.  WORKS offers young people and communities information about the range of opportunities available.

Young people and communities are invited to tell WORKS what will help them to learn about working in the city.  Click here for more information.
