Extend the deadline to have our say on Bristol's land use

We call on Bristol City Council to enable communities to shape how land and buildings are used in their neighbourhoods by extending the deadline of Bristol's land use consultation to 19 February 2009 and to ensure all future consultations allow for communities to meaningfully feed into important decision-making processes like this. Unless this happens submissions will be dominated by private developers and businesses who have the financial capacity to deliver in this short time period.

Scrap Prince Street Swing-bridge Closure Plan

The petitioner request that Bristol City Council scraps its plan to partially close the Prince Street swing-bridge to motorists. Previous occasions when vehicular access at this location has been limited have proved disastrous for the city and led to traffic chaos, confusion and chronic congestion. This is a vital crossing point into central Bristol which must be kept open to all.

Save Newquay Rd playing fields

We, the undersigned, petition Bristol City Council to abandon any plans to sell off the playing fields on Newquay Rd behind Ilminster School, taking them out of the education remit and Primary School Review process completely, recognizing that they are a valued, fully accessible public open space well used over many years, particularly for football and considering it as fully covered by the council’s Parks and Green Spaces Strategy.
