The Opportunity

Are you an ambitious Fundraising expert and would like to play an important part in Full Circle Dockland’s ambitious future and help us support young people and families in our community?

Following a Governance refresh, we seek an individual who would like to be involved in our cultural journey, helping us build on what we've already achieved. You will be joining us as a Non-Executive Director on our Board, focusing on the delivery of our Fundraising strategy. An understanding of charities and community anchor organisations, as well as the regulatory context within which we operate would be helpful but is not essential. Training and support in these areas can be provided.

You will be keen to influence and drive the strategic direction and success of our deeply rooted and values-driven organisation through strong governance skills whilst keeping our service users and the community at the heart of strategic decision-making.

Diversity is vital to the success of our organisation, and our Board is no different. It's important to us that our Board represents the diverse backgrounds and communities from which our service users are from, who share our values and are keen to positively contribute their experience as part of our inclusive governing body. We therefore welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

Why Full Circle Docklands?

Full Circle Docklands was founded in 1980 and continues to strive for inclusion and the provision of essential support for the Ashley Ward community. We support our community by providing various services for youths, elders, and families. We take a holistic approach to enhancing life opportunities by offering our service users a variety of aspirational activities and experiences.

We aim to support people of all ages to reach their full potential, regardless of their background. Our shared vision is to continue to develop new creative arts, media, sports, education, and training programmes that can inspire, motivate, and engage our community in BS2 and surrounding areas.

As we transition to a community anchor organisation, we are expanding our services and developing the sustainability of our organisation. We are also working with the Ethnic Minority networks in Bristol and other organisations in St Paul to develop our shared vision and objectives that further support our local community. Our key objective is to promote local cohesion, cultural awareness and inter-generational work among the families living here.

At Full Circle Docklands, we are committed to building a healthy, vibrant, and inclusive organisation that treats people respectfully and creates opportunities for all. We have strong community roots and are in the process of developing an ambitious five-year strategy. In the last year, we have undergone significant change in our operating environment, regulatory framework and with the needs and expectations of service users and colleagues. Throughout this process we have appointed new board members and a new CEO. Our new Governance structure is crucial in enabling us to continue to excel and support our vision of building a community anchor organisation that supports our community to thrive.

As our Fundraising Trustee your main responsibilities will be:

To oversee fundraising activities to support our mission and strategic objectives. You will act as an expert in planning fundraising strategies, donor engagement, and relationship management to drive our revenue growth and sustainability.

You will also:

  • Think strategically and creatively to help us bring our fundraising activities to the next level;
  • Work with the CEO and wider Full Circle Docklands team to identify and evaluate funding opportunities and support them with developing fundraising materials in order to diversify revenue streams and maximise fundraising impact;
  • Strategically guide the CEO to build relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and other funding partners to secure financial support and long-term commitments;
  • Analyse fundraising trends, donor preferences, and market dynamics to inform strategic decision-making and enhance fundraising effectiveness.

Your qualifications will include:

  • Proven experience in fundraising and development, preferably within the non-profit sector or relevant industry;
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing fundraising strategies that achieve revenue targets and donor engagement goals;
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to effectively engage with donors, volunteers, board members, and other stakeholders;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate the organisation's mission, impact, and funding needs to diverse audiences;
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and adapt fundraising strategies to changing market dynamics and donor preferences.
