Details of Role:

At Hope Against Suicide, we're excited to introduce a unique volunteer opportunity for a Response Manager to help steer our charity towards our mission. We're seeking an individual who is eager to gain management experience, enhance their CV, or utilise their existing skills to create a meaningful impact.

If you're passionate about mental health, and committed to getting the community talking again, preventing suicide wherever possible, we welcome you to apply to join our team.

Our aim is to reduce suicide rates by providing immediate, face-to-face support to those grappling with mental health difficulties.

As a Response Manager, you'll oversee our efforts to offer early intervention in Bristol's bustling Broadmead shopping area during the day, and lively nightlife spots in the evening.

Our approach is straightforward yet powerful: to serve as an immediate connection for individuals in distress, providing immediate human support, ideally at the point of early intervention to prevent (where we can) crisis point being reached.

We aim to alleviate the agonising wait for assistance during mental health difficulties by offering a listening ear, signposting support, and advocacy where needed, and when it's most needed.

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with the charity manager to shape and enhance our response strategies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating shifts,
  • Supporting team members,
  • Building key community relationships,
  • And recruiting additional volunteers to grow the team.
  • You'll also play a crucial role in providing feedback to enhance our services continually.

You'll receive training as a Mental Health Responder and actively participate in shifts, providing essential trust and empathy within the team.

Join us in making a tangible difference in our community's mental well-being.
