Community Health Services Heart and Stethoscope

Does your organisation want to be involved in delivering community health services across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, as part of a multi-million pound contract bid?

Voscur has been approached by Bristol Community Health (BCH) and North Somerset Community Partnership (NSCP) to develop a collaboration framework* of VCSE organisations that supports their long-term commitment to providing health services using voluntary sector partners. If your VCSE organisation focuses on health and wellbeing, you could be one of the strategic partners they are looking for.

BCH and NSCP currently provide adult community health services in Bristol and North Somerset. The Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (BNSSG CCG) will soon start re-commissioning these services across the whole area.

They are looking for a single provider, and the contract could last up to 10 years, based on a seven year contract with a possible three year extension. The total contract value is around £120 million per year.

With widespread community knowledge and experience, established local relationships, skills and expertise, BCH and NSCP have agreed to bid together for this new contract. The tender will be released in January 2019, with a competitive dialogue process** running up to June 2019. The preferred provider will be informed in July 2019 and the new contract will begin in April 2020, following a mobilisation period.

Community Collaboration

In line with the CCG’s expectations, BCH and NSCP are keen to build stronger ties with the VCSE sector. This fits into a new model of holistic care for every patient, based around community hubs and clusters of GP practices. The model will also make much better use of community assets that promote and support self-care.

Both NSCP and BCH have extensive experience of working together with our sector, but know that more can be done and the sector needs to be strengthened; this can be done by VCSE organisations becoming partners.

With this in mind, Voscur is co-designing the VCSE collaboration framework to be as inclusive as possible, and will help identify locality-based VCSE strategic partners across six locations (in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire), supported by Voluntary Action North Somerset (VANS) and The Care Forum. The partners will be funded to help shape the contract bid and to deliver this work, starting with local community engagement work in January and February 2019.

We’re looking for organisations like yours to get involved. Sign up to our local VCSE engagement events (13-20 November) and help with the thinking about strategic partners and collaboration.

We anticipate these events will be very popular so, to maximise the number of organisations that can attend (and especially those on a smaller scale), please only apply for one ticket per organisation.
