Do you want to be a Cancer Awareness Champion?

We are trying to reach out to as many organisations as possible with a view to offer them training on cancer prevention.

Cancer is the main cause of preventable death in Bristol and 40% of cancers are in fact preventable. With that in mind Public Health are offering a free 1.5 hour introductory workshop about preventing cancer and would like to invite you so that you can share this knowledge with the people you look after or work with.

The aim of the workshop is to empower your organisation with knowledge, resources and ideas to raise cancer prevention awareness, increase screening and early presentation rates in order to diagnose at an earlier and  more treatable stage.

Just to give you an example when bowel cancer is diagnosed at stage 1 there is a 9/10 chance of surviving the first 5 years but if its diagnosed at stage 4 there is only a 1 in 9 chance of surviving the first five years. Bowel cancer screening rates are lower in Bristol compared to the rest of the UK and this is also why we are trying to raise awareness.

These workshops are suitable for anyone who works with the public and might like to become a cancer prevention champion. If you’d like to know more or would like to book spaces on our workshop this month, please contact:
