Due to Brexit, EU,EEA and Swiss citizens must apply for the EU Settlement Scheme if they want to continue living in the UK after June 2021, even if they have lived in the UK all of their lives. This session is for anyone working or volunteering in Bristol in a client facing role.

What we will cover:

• Learn more about the European Union Settlement Scheme, what it is and the impacts of not applying
• Understand how you can support people to apply
• Where to signpost people who have more complex cases.
• How local advice services can help: St. Pauls Advice Centre, South Bristol Advice Services and North Bristol Advice Centre.

Time is running out!

The final deadline for applications is 30 June 2021, but we advise applying as soon as possible. All people wishing to apply must have started their stay in the UK (exercising their Treaty Rights) by 31 December 2020.

Successful applications will be given Settled’ or ‘Pre-settled’ status depending on how long they have lived in the UK for.
Impact

After the 30th June, those without Settled or Pre-settled status will not have the right to:    Work in the UK

• Use the NHS for free, if you can now
• Enrol in education or continue studying
• Access public funds such as benefits and pensions, if you’re eligible for them
• Travel in and out of the UK

We are concerned that people who are eligible for the scheme and wish to stay in the UK do not know about the scheme or may leave it too late.

We need everyone in Bristol to know about the European Union Settlement Scheme and engage with staff, citizens and clients in conversation about it.
