In 2015 Bristol is a more ethnically mixed city than ever.  As residents we all benefit socially, economically and culturally from that diversity. Ours is a stronger and more welcoming city because of this fantastic mix. Yet inequality and intolerance persist in undermining these strengths and benefits for both individuals and communities.

It’s time for big thinking and coordinated action on race equality in the city. So this year’s Bristol BME Fair will see the launch of the Bristol Manifesto for Race Equality. Developed by a range of local voluntary and public groups, the Manifesto challenges every organisation providing services in Bristol to improve race equality across education, employment, health, social welfare and criminal justice.

To attend the BME Fair, please register for FREE by clicking here. For any further enquiry about the launch, please call Charlene on 0117 909 9949.

‘Empowered’: This year’s BME Awards are focused on supporting young people to realise their potential. BYEP, a local social enterprise that empowers young people to be tomorrow’s leaders, will showcase their talent and contribution to communities – both of which remain vital to raising aspirations and changing negative perceptions.

Showcasing talent and the positive contribution that young people make in our local communities; remains vital to raising aspirations amongst our young people as well as changing societal perceptions.

BYEP, the youth social enterprise in partnership with a group of young people from a range of local youth groups, will be hosting an exciting awards event called EMPOWERED for the evening section.

Empowered will be celebrating the achievements of young people within inner city Bristol. The event also aims to provide a platform to showcase young talent and inform young people of local youth services.  Both adults and young people are invited to attend.

There will be a wide range of talented young people being acknowledged as well as special guest performances, speakers and some good food!  The award categories include Enterprise, Education, Community (helping people), Arts, Sports, Choices (dealing with adversity), Leadership, Science & IT and the Batook Pandya Award (Best Youth Organisation).
