This week (13 – 17 November) is Anti-Bullying week. Coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and supported by SafeToNet, this week is designed to shine a spotlight on bullying and to encourage all children, teachers and parents to take action against bullying throughout the year. 
 
This year’s Anti-Bullying week theme is 'All Different, All Equal'. The aim is to:

The Government is planning changes to statutory guidance around safeguarding children. It has opened a consultation around the proposed changes and is calling for feedback and input. The deadline is 31 December 2017.

The Charity Commission has updated its guidance on reporting serious incidents, following growing concern that they are being under-reported by charities. 
 
Last year, charities reported 2,181 incidents to the Commission, over half of which (55%) related to safeguarding; around one in seven (14%) related to fraud or money laundering, with a third of reported frauds being internal (‘insider’) fraud. However, the Commission believes that many more serious incidents are going unreported.

The Bristol Safeguarding Adults and Children Boards have launched a new joint website. This website will now act as the focal point for all safeguarding information relating to adults and children for both residents and professionals alike.
 
The site is split into two halves, one to represent the Bristol Safeguarding Children Board (BSCB) and the other to host information relating to the Bristol Safeguarding Adults Board (BSAB).

VCSE organisations are invited to share their views on changes planned by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to the way it regulates health and adult social care services. 
 
This is the second phase of a broader consultation*.  The CQC is proposing changes in the following areas:
 
  • The regulation of primary medical services and adult social care services.
  • Improvement to the structure of registration, as well as clarification around the CQC’s definition of ‘registered providers’.
