Volunteers will take part in quarterly remote meetings (3 hours duration, currently held on a Wednesday morning) to review and discuss feedback on ‘dip sampled’ case files.

Details of Role: 

The role of the PCC is to scrutinise, review and improve police practices. Part of this involves working with members of the public to provide an independent view as part of  one of four scrutiny panels.

Volunteers will carry out independent scrutiny of Out of Court Disposals, used by the police to deal with low level offending out of court, to ensure appropriate use of Out of Court Disposals, drive improvement and increase understanding and public confidence in their use.

Volunteers will be part of a Panel, including representatives of the criminal justice system and victim support services, acting as an objective and a ‘critical friend’.
