Details of Role: 

We are looking for an organised, reliable Reception Manager with great people skills to join our team based at the Hospice in Brentry, Bristol. 

You will be the welcoming face of the Hospice to a diverse range of people, passionate about upholding St Peter’s Hospice Values. 

The reception is open from 8am – 6pm weekdays and 9am - 5pm weekends and bank holidays. We are open 365 days per year.  

You will need to be proactive, energetic, highly adaptable, and responsive with strong organisational skills and outstanding attention to detail. 

With three direct reports, plus five bank staff and twelve volunteers, the successful candidate will have experience and knowledge in people management, proven experience in a similar role within a busy working environment, as well as strong administration and IT skills.

The ideal candidate will be someone with great interpersonal and management skills, who is comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of tasks.  You will also need excellent organisation skills and meticulous attention to detail to co-ordinate rotas and input reception team payroll.

You will be committed to providing a first-class reception service to the Hospice so that all visitors and telephone calls are dealt with compassionately and to the highest standard.

Key responsibilities:

  • To role model best practice by greeting visitors and answer the telephone in a warm & sensitive manner.
  • To manage and supervise all members of the reception team including bank staff and volunteers.
  • To train and induct new members of the reception team including bank staff and volunteers.
  • To manage the staff receptionist and volunteer rota, ensuring that reception is appropriately covered at all times.
  • To ensure the reception team payroll is completed accurately and submitted timely.
  • To manage the administrative and IT processes to ensure reception runs smoothly and efficiently: including the ID & Visitor pass system, incoming and outgoing post, sales of merchandise and receipt of donations.

This is an onsite role and working hours are 07.45 - 15.45.

Please note, the reception manager will be contracted to work any bank holidays that are during their working hours, but will receive unsocial payments for those days.
