Our vision is that everybody shares - to protect our environment, give people access to the things they need and reduce clutter in people's homes.
We’re at an exciting time in our journey, as our Kingswood library is well established, although still needing to attract more members, and we look towards opening a second site - in Bedminster. So, we are seeking to enhance our Trustee team to bring in new skills and expertise in the areas we are currently lacking.
As a Trustee, you will be part of a team leading Share Bristol as we ensure our organisation is as good as it can be, and consider our strategy for the future, whilst listening to our local community, being inclusive, and responding to local demand. We already make a difference in many ways, including reduction in waste, creating more space in homes and giving people better access to things, but could do more!
At the moment our impact is focused around the Kingswood area, but there are still many people who are not aware of us, or of the potential for Share Bristol to help them in their lives. We would like someone with marketing expertise to help us reach more people, and encourage them to become members, year on year.
Our team is friendly and welcoming and we’re a flexible bunch who meet once a quarter at the moment, but communicate frequently between meetings and see each other informally at the Library of Things, along with our ever-growing team of volunteers. All are welcome and we are particularly keen to hear from people belonging to groups who are under-represented in the environmental field.
Our challenges are to make the general population aware that Share Bristol and libraries of things exist, help people see the relevance to them and the benefit we could have for them, encourage people to join as members, and persuade people to renew their membership each year.
So, we're looking for someone who understands how to communicate with different segments of people, and the best language, channels and techniques to do this. Someone who can use the information we hold on our existing members, and use it to better inform our marketing and communications work. If you are also confident with social media, newsletters and so on that would also be a plus.
As a Trustee with Share Bristol you will see first hand the pleasure that the Library of Things brings to local people - from the dawning realisation that they will be able to access the things they need when you are explaining the concept to someone for the first time, to seeing someone come back to borrow time and time again as they work on a big project and tell you about its progress.
Through our work we reduce the amount of goods that people buy, and the amount of packaging and eventually items that end up in landfill. We make accessing things affordable, bringing parties, DIY projects, deep cleaning and camping holidays within people's reach. And we help bring people together, through fostering a sense of community.
As a Trustee, you will be part of this, and help us increase our impact even more.
Please get in touch with a CV and a message telling us a bit about yourself. What experience and expertise do you have in marketing? What other skills do you have or what else can you offer? Why do you want to get involved? What do you want to get out of this?
