Details of Role: 

We are looking for an energetic and experienced café supervisor to join the team at our lovely vegetarian art shop/café.

You will support our exciting training programme, which enables adults with learning disabilities to learn all aspects of working in a high street café/retail environment, including food preparation and barista skills. You would work closely with Trainees and their support workers, so kindness and patience are essential, and an understanding of or experience working with people with learning disabilities is desirable.

You will be a key holder, and expected to duty manage the café 3 days a week, including on 2 Saturdays a month, and provide some holiday cover when available. As such, our ideal candidate will be confident, highly responsible, and have a Food Safety Level 2 certificate (we can provide training for the right candidate).

This would be a temporary contract (June-September) initially, with the opportunity to extend and go permanent for the right person, offering a competitive rate of pay.

 

Breakdown of Role-
 

Main Responsibilities

  • To aid the day to day running of the Crafted by Props art café / shop.
  • To have keen attention to detail to serve food and drinks to a high standard
  • To use experience within hospitality to foster the idea of Crafted By Props as a destination, including excellent customer service using understanding of the project and the work of Props as a whole
  • Keeping up to date with Safer food better business journal and making sure fridge temps are always logged
  • Making sure the space is kept immaculately clean, organised and that daily and weekly cleaning rotas are kept up-to-date
  • To be responsible as a key holder for opening and closing the store
  • To be duty manager on occasions where Manager and/or Assistant manager are not on site 

    Additional Responsibilities 

  • Engage with Trainees through activity delivery, empathetic and sympathetic listening, direct guidance and the provision of appropriate positive feedback to behaviour
  • Performance and Achievement
  • Take part in supervisions with senior staff, providing your own input and reaching agreed targets
  • Participate in training where appropriate, keeping up to date with your own areas of interest.
  • At all times work in a way that reflects Props ethos and culture, promoting and role modelling the social, emotional and behavioural standards
  • Adhere to all Props policies and procedures, ensuring your actions would not put the reputation of the organisation into disrepute at any time
  • Contribute to Props marketing, promotions and events whenever possible

    Essential Experience

  • To have worked at a supervisor level in a hospitality setting
  • To have barista experience

    Desired Experience

  • To have worked with vulnerable adults or people with learning disablities
