LGBTQ+ Partnership

1 February, 2023

Voscur is creating a new partnership of LGBTQ+ community organisations in Bristol.

Our vision is to support these community groups and organisations to create thriving, well-funded and cohesive services for the LGBTQ+ community locally.

Our initial research shows that there are only a handful of organisations for the LGBTQ+ community that are run by members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Voscur is seeking expressions of interest from LGBTQ+ community organisations to join both a small steering group, and the wider partnership itself.

The steering group will help shape the partnership, meeting to discuss priorities, strategy and representation. The wider partnership will then form to bring together organisations from within the VCSE sector whose focusses on LGBTQ+ people.

Mark Hubbard, Development Director of Voscur, said “Bristol’s LGBTQ+ community is facing increasing rates of hate crime and systemic inequalities that are worsening after the Covid-19 pandemic and now with the cost of living crisis. Sadly, some LGBTQ+ community organisations have closed in recent years and there are few services run by the community for the community. I am delighted that we are bringing together a new partnership of LGBTQ+ groups and organisations that will support services, provide a strategic, unified voice, share knowledge and create community cohesion.”
