Who we are

Trinity Community Services, Hotwells has been running a weekly lunch club for the over 60’s for over 30 years.  The focus is to reduce social isolation and loneliness and we welcome everyone, whatever their background or faith, to enjoy a freshly cooked three course lunch, beverages and activities in a warm and friendly atmosphere. 

Purpose of the role

To support the effective running of the lunch club by being flexible in your role which will be varied.

What you will be doing

  • Setting up and putting away tables and chairs
  • Making and serving hot and cold drinks
  • Handing out plates of food to lunch club members and clearing plates
  • Washing up
  • Supporting lunch club members to join in activities
  • Guiding lunch club members to the minibus (as needed)
  • Standing in as a passenger assistant on the minibus (as needed)
  • Supporting lunch club members on day trips/outings

Skills, experience and qualities needed

We are looking for someone with:

  • A flexible, can-do attitude, willing and able to take on a variety of tasks
  • An understanding that reliability and punctuality is important
  • Good communication skills and desire to be a team player
  • A patient, calm and positive manner
  • An understanding of the needs of older people

Support offered

You will receive:

  • A volunteer induction
  • Regular support to carry out your role from the Lunch Club Co-ordinator
  • An annual review to support you in your volunteer role

Other information

We will require two references from you.

This opportunity is suitable for a volunteer looking for a longer-term role ie: more than 6 months preferably.

As a volunteer you will be expected to volunteer most, but not all Thursdays.  Having a break is very important.  You would need to inform the lunch club co-ordinator, as soon as possible, if you wished to have a break from volunteering.

Work references can be provided for prospective employers (after 3 months of service).
