Based at Henleaze Lake in North Bristol, Henleaze Swimming Club is a charitable company limited by guarantee, whose charitable objects are to promote the health and wellbeing of the inhabitants of Bristol and the surrounding areas by providing facilities for open water swimming, and other facilities in the interests of social welfare.

Henleaze Lake is a special place, a flooded former quarry, flanked by grassy areas, trees and planting, rich in biodiversity. It is open year round to more than 6,000 members and community access users, and we are constantly seeking to find ways to increase diversity and inclusion within the Club, and to promote wider usage to bring the benefits of the lake and its surroundings to people who would benefit from it.

We are seeking a General Manager with excellent organisational and communication skills to supervise and manage all strategic, business, and operational aspects of Henleaze Swimming Club.

Responsible for a small management team as well as our team of superintendents (around 30 in number) and reporting to the Board of Trustees, you will have great interpersonal and management skills as well as the ability to work autonomously and take ownership of tasks.

The job requires flexible working – including the opportunity for hybrid working - which can accommodate both the needs of the lake and that of the management team - hours are agreed in advance depending on current type of work and workload.

There is a requirement to live in or within easy travelling distance of Bristol, as regular attendance is required at the Lake including an element of on call cover should an unforeseen incident occur.
