Welcome.

FGM affects over 200 million women and girls worldwide. This issue is becoming increasingly relevant to health and social care providers in this country and therefore a good understanding of the practice is important.

We are inviting all social and healthcare professionals including doctors, midwives, nurses, social workers, nursing and medical students to improve their understanding of the medical and psychological implications of FGM, discuss the importance of language used and ensure awareness of their professional legal obligations.

The conference has been organised by a group of our young activists who are medical students and who feel strongly that education around FGM is not covered adequately in the medical curricula.

We are delighted to welcome our experienced and expert speakers who will give you an in depth understanding of FGM in clinical practice and enable you to identify, treat and support women and girls who have undergone FGM effectively and sensitively and to protect girls at risk.

All forms of FGM are child abuse.
