In this live CPD event, therapist and author Sarah Van Gogh provokes thought around our unconscious processes when working therapeutically with men who have experienced sexual violation. As a result of the session, delegates will feel better informed and skilled in working with male clients of such trauma.

This course is for qualified therapists, trainees and mental health professionals.

About the Speaker

Sarah Van Gogh is an experienced therapist, supervisor and trainer. She has worked in private practice since 2001, and has worked on the training staff of Re.Vision Centre for Counselling & Psychotherapy in London since 2003.

She has also been a tutor in adult education, and has worked in in the fields of theatre-in-education and community health outreach to raise awareness around HIV and sexual health. She read English at Cambridge University, is a published poet, has taught creative writing, and written about the vital connection between the expressive arts and therapy in a number of journals, and presented at conferences on the subject of the healing power of artistic creativity and its affinity with psychotherapy.

She worked for seven years as a therapist and trainer for Survivors UK, a service which offers support to men who have experienced sexual violation. She is the author of ‘Helping Male Survivors of Sexual Violation to Recover’ (Jessica Kingsley Books). She co-edited and contributed to ‘Transformation in Troubled Times’ (TransPersonal Press). She also writes a regular column in the quarterly journal, BACP Private Practice magazine.
